  • Features hands-on interactive displays covering both Olympic history and sport more broadly, with extensive gear, photo and video collections
📖

Full description

Located on Montjuïc beside the 1992 Olympic Ring, this interactive sports museum is named for Joan Antoni Samaranch, the longtime IOC president closely tied to Barcelona's Olympic legacy, and covers both the Games' history and the broader story of sport through hands-on displays. A 4.4-star rating and solid, if not exceptional, culture and must-see scores reflect a well-liked but not essential stop — good value for sports fans or families passing through Montjuïc rather than a dedicated pilgrimage site.

Visitors often catch it on the way down from the cable car station, and the roughly 75-minute visit fits comfortably into that kind of itinerary. It works well combined with the nearby Olympic Stadium.

Reviews

We visited this place since it was on the way of descend from the cable car station at Montjuic. We went in at 1pm, leaving 1.5hr before closing time. It is a place to visit if you follow sport events or familiar with the famous sport men/women like Yuzuru Hanyu, Carl Lewis, Michael Jordan, etc. Reserved at least 1hr…
