Full description

The Ancient Agora was the civic and commercial heart of classical Athens, and today it is an open archaeological park of foundations, paths and shaded gardens. Its centrepiece is the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples, while the reconstructed Stoa of Attalos houses a museum of finds, including a second floor worth climbing.

Visitors tend to spend about an hour and a half here. Reviewers praise the late-afternoon light before sunset and the calmer pace compared with the Acropolis, which stands directly above the site.
