Full description

Schönbrunn Palace is the 18th-century summer residence of the Habsburgs, and its guided and audio-led tours take visitors through lavishly decorated ceremonial apartments in the rococo style. Outside, the large formal gardens, with their maze and long axes leading up to the Gloriette, absorb crowds well, so the grounds rarely feel packed even when the palace is busy.

Different ticket levels cover a shorter set of state rooms or a fuller route, and reviewers note that the fuller pass adds worthwhile extra rooms. Plan around three hours to combine the interior with a walk in the park.
