Punta della Dogana

Punta della Dogana sits at the point where the Grand Canal meets the Giudecca Canal, in a triangular former customs house now used for international contemporary art. Reviewers praise Tadao Ando's intervention and the dialogue between the historic brick and the modern exhibition spaces, as well as rotating shows with strong individual artists.

The setting is also a favourite for photography, with the water on both sides and the occasional dolphin sighting reported. About an hour is enough to see the exhibitions, which makes it easy to pair with other Dorsoduro stops at any point of the day.
