Torre del Oro

4.5 ·

Visit Torre del Oro, the riverside tower that has watched over the Guadalquivir since the 13th century. Browse the small naval museum inside, then climb up for views across the water and the old town.

📖

Full description

Torre del Oro is a dodecagonal watchtower on the banks of the Guadalquivir, built around 1220 as part of Seville's defensive wall, with several theories about the origin of its name. Inside is a small museum of naval history, and visitors can climb the stairs for views over the river and the old town.

Entry operates on a donation basis, which some reviewers found slightly awkward, and the exhibits are modest, though history enthusiasts could linger an hour. Allow about 30 minutes for a typical visit.

Reviews

This is a nice little attraction, which is donation run. Well worth a few euros to climb the stairs and take some vista pictures. There is a small navel museum within, with a audio guide download able by smartphone. Worth a visit, but challenging if you don't like spiral staircases or are less physically able, as…
