Food
Osteria La Quercia keeps its menu deliberately compact, and reviewers note it can shift even between checking online and arriving, so flexibility helps. Standouts mentioned include a squid appetizer, veal pappardelle in neither a white nor red sauce, and distinctive meatballs, reflecting a kitchen willing to deviate from the most obvious Roman classics. Its notably high culture score alongside a low hidden-gem score fits a restaurant respected for its cooking and reasonably well known rather than a secret, at 4.3 stars over 1,514 reviews. It's a solid choice near Piazza della Quercia for diners open to a shorter, more considered menu.

What people say
"Relatively small menu but delicious options. I went for the gluten free ossobuco on the website menu only to be told the menu changed. Had an octopus salad instead and honestly, not mad it, it was fantastic. With tomatoes, potatoes, olives, capers. Had as an added surprise this grass cooked in - paccasassi - that was such a refreshing addition I wish I could grow it at home or eat a whole bowl of it. Attentive to dietary restrictions, had very good gluten free bread although you get a full bread basket for 4β¬ of a selection of normal breads, but for 2β¬ you get one small gluten free roll. As everywhere, the gluten free penalty is insane, this needs to stop. 3.50β¬ for a bottle of water was also a bit high. My companion had their amatriciana, which they enjoyed. Seating inside and outside, quiet location, friendly service, relatively affordable, not touristy or flashy at all. I'd go again."
