Armando al Pantheon

4.4 (2,173)$$$ · Expensive

Armando al Pantheon has served classic Roman cuisine from the same family for generations, just off the piazza in front of the Pantheon, and it consistently draws comparisons to the very best pasta dishes reviewers have had anywhere. The kitchen sticks close to Roman tradition rather than reinventing it, letting quality ingredients and technique speak for themselves, and the wine list gets specific praise for depth alongside the food. Its 4.4 rating from over 2,000 reviews and near-top must-see score make it one of the most reliably excellent classic trattorias in central Rome, ideal for travellers wanting an authentic Roman meal without straying from the historic centre.

What people say

"There are many restaurants in Rome that offer the classic Roman pasta dishes, as well as other Italian specialties, but very few reach the level of quality of Armando. We had the mozzarella with Pomodori del Piennolo, the gricia, the ossobuco (the dish of the day), and the vitello tonnato. Every dish was exceptional in both flavor and quality. In addition, the wine selection is outstanding, and the staff’s recommendations were superb. I would love to come back every time I visit Rome (assuming I can get a reservation!)."
