The Powder Tower

4.6 ·

Walk up to the Powder Tower, the Gothic gate that once guarded Prague's Old Town entrance. Study its carved stone facade, then climb inside for a rooftop view over the historic centre.

📖

Full description

The Powder Tower is a Gothic gate built in the 15th century as part of the Old Town's fortifications, and one of the few such gates to survive. Its dark stone facade is covered in intricate carvings, and reviewers often mention the moment it appears above the street as you walk through the centre.

Damaged in the Battle of Prague and later restored, it now serves as a landmark and a viewing point you can enter and climb. It sits right beside the Municipal House on the old royal route, so about 45 minutes covers the tower and its surroundings.

Great place for a short visit. Medieval architecture, painted glass windows and amazing panoramic views from the top deck. Be mindful of all the stairs you will have to climb. You get 50% off if you visit within one hour of opening time (10am) Definitely a must see in Praha....
