Full description

The Museum of Communism in Nové Město uses recreated interiors, objects, photographs, personal stories and video to portray life under the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Reviewers agree it gives a strong impression of the period and mixes historical context with human detail, though several warn that the text is dense and the films are long, so it rewards visitors who like to read.

The pace is slow and thoughtful, which makes it particularly well suited to solo travellers with an interest in modern European history.

Reviews

A very slow-paced but informative experience. The reading is very dense and can be long, if you're interested in that kind of experience, you'll get much more out of the museum. I wouldn't recommend it for young children based on this. A lot of good visuals and a cute gift shop on site. Easily walkable from old town…
