Slip into the Jardim Botânico do Porto for a calm green break in the city. Walk past the pond and mansion, follow arboretum paths, and finish with the museum or a coffee at the cafe.
Full description
The Porto Botanical Garden pairs formal gardens with an elegant 19th-century mansion, a pond and shaded paths running through an arboretum. It is run alongside the University of Porto's natural history and science museum, so a short garden stroll can be extended into an exhibition on biodiversity.
Reviewers describe the planting as inspiring and the layout as serene, and note a cafe on site. Parts of the grounds sit beside a busy road, so noise can intrude in places.
A typical visit lasts around an hour, suiting couples and anyone after a calm green pause.

Very well curated exhibition, taking a look at diversity from many different angles. The gardens are attractive but there are parts that are adjacent to a very busy road lots of noise! There is a very nice cafe underneath the main house. Very good cup of tea.
