Neighborhoods/walks
Montmartre rose to fame in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as home to artists like Picasso, Renoir, and Toulouse-Lautrec, and its steep, winding streets and staircases still carry that bohemian, village-like character despite the crowds. The Sacré-Cœur basilica and Place du Tertre are the main draws, but the quieter streets just off the tourist path retain much of the neighborhood's original charm.
