Colline du Château

4.7 ·

Climb Colline du Château for the best panorama over Nice's Old Town, port and sea. Follow the paths up past the waterfall, pause at the viewpoints, and stop at the cafe before heading back down.

📖

Full description

Colline du Château is the historic hilltop park rising above Nice's Old Town and port, reached by a climb of steps or a lift. At the top, terraces open onto wide views over the bay, the harbour and the rooftops, and a man-made waterfall and a cafe break up the walk.

Entry is free and the park stays open into the evening. Plan roughly 90 minutes, longer if you linger at the viewpoints, and note that reviewers warn of heat and limited shade in summer, which makes early morning or late afternoon the better choice.

Reviews

Lovely walk to the falls. Unfortunately, we ended up doing the hike in the middle of the day when the temperature was over 35°C, and the kids had a tough time with the heat. I would recommend doing it in the evening instead. The temperatures are more comfortable, and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful sunset view…
