Heilig Geist, the Church of the Holy Spirit, began as a hospital church and is the oldest hall church in Munich. Its 14th-century Gothic structure now holds an ornate 18th-century interior, with frescoes and decorative detail on the vaulted ceiling.
It sits immediately beside Viktualienmarkt and a short walk from Marienplatz, so it fits easily into a central walk. Visitors describe a peaceful atmosphere that contrasts with the busy market outside.
