Porta Ticinese Medievale

4.5 ·

Pause at Porta Ticinese Medievale, a rare surviving medieval city gate in Milan. Take in the old stonework, then settle into the nearby bars and restaurants as the evening gets going.

📖

Full description

Porta Ticinese Medievale is a preserved stretch of Milan's old city walls and one of only two medieval gates that still stand. It sits near the Basilica of San Lorenzo and the Columns of San Lorenzo, so the monument itself is quickly seen, but visitors say the surrounding district is the real draw, with plenty of bars and restaurants.

It is free and open around the clock, which makes it a natural pause between other sights or an evening stop when the area comes alive. A visit of around 15 minutes is enough for the gate itself.
