Food
Govinda's has quietly built one of the largest review counts in this entire list — over 31,000 — serving purely vegetarian Indian food in a simple, canteen-style setting just off Soho Square. Dishes like paneer and dahi vada come up repeatedly as favourites, and reviewers consistently point to the combination of low prices, generous portions, and genuinely good cooking as the reason for such sustained popularity. At 4.8 stars and mid-range pricing, though it reads closer to a budget option in practice, it's an easy, reliable choice for a quick vegetarian breakfast or lunch. Seating can be tight at peak times given how busy it gets.

What people say
"It’s always great to dine here. Great food - especially like the paneer and love the dahi vada. The seating is bit of an issue which can be improved. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit. By the closing time the staff tries to push you to eat quickly as they want to clean up and go home, they can definitely be trained to be kinder to the customers in letting them finish the food in peace. Their chai and lassi is very good."
