Discover the Museu da Carris, where Lisbon's transport history comes with a vintage tram ride included. Browse the exhibits, then rattle across to the depot to see the preserved vehicles up close.

📖

Full description

The Museu da Carris tells the story of Lisbon's trams, buses and funiculars in a clean, well-organised display that mixes personal and humorous anecdotes with historical detail. Part of the site occupies former workshops.

The standout feature is that the ticket includes a ride on a heritage tram to a second building, where the actual vehicles are kept. Reviewers describe it as quiet, charming and well maintained, and it works especially well for families and anyone curious about the city's transport past.

Reviews

A little gem of a place. Not very busy at all on Saturday at 4pm. You get to learn about the history of Carris and then ride a tram to another part of the museum to see the actual trains, a very cool place to take lots of photos! Very quiet and lovely.
