Cross into MAAT, where an old riverside power station meets a sleek modern gallery. Walk through preserved machinery, browse rotating contemporary exhibitions and finish on the terrace overlooking the Tagus.
Full description
MAAT occupies two buildings on the Tagus: a former power station preserved as a walk-through exhibition, and a modern purpose-built gallery with changing contemporary shows. Reviewers mention a terrace overlooking the water and a variety of simultaneous exhibitions, some more engaging than others.
The old Central Tejo section highlights electrical and renewable energy themes, while the new building focuses on art and architecture. Two hours covers the highlights, and the waterfront setting makes it pleasant to combine with a walk along the river.

Reviews
The Gallery had 2 fascinating displays, but I felt it was expensive for what I got to see. The Central on the other hand had so much you could see, including the inside boiler rooms etc. My favourite display was the women who served display. Inspirational. Remember to ask for a token-coin from the front desk to lock…
