Muzeum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego Collegium Maius

4.7 ·

Walk into Collegium Maius, the medieval heart of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow's Old Town. Stroll the arcaded courtyard, then climb to the museum's historic rooms to see paintings and objects from the university's past.

📖

Full description

Collegium Maius is one of the oldest university buildings in Central Europe, centred on an arcaded Gothic courtyard with cloisters. The museum upstairs covers the history of the Jagiellonian University through historic rooms, scientific instruments, paintings and objects, and visitors note that Nicolaus Copernicus once studied here.

Reviewers call it small but thoughtfully designed, and one highlights the courtyard's mechanical clock show at the stroke of odd hours. The museum entrance is upstairs and the door can look closed even when it is open.

Expect about an hour.
