Step into the Muzeum Nowej Huty and discover daily life in communist Poland. Browse the period exhibits upstairs, then descend into an authentic Cold War bunker preserved as a permanent underground exhibit.
Full description
Located in Nowa Huta, Krakow's planned socialist district, this museum looks at everyday life in the communist era. Reviewers mention a ground-floor display of period toys and a temporary exhibition on music under communism, but the highlight is the underground level, a genuine Cold War bunker turned into a permanent exhibit.
Several visitors describe the bunker as atmospheric and a little eerie, with little more than ventilation hum for company. Staff are described as friendly and helpful, and about 45 minutes is enough for a visit.

Great museum, friendly, helpful staff. Great tempory music exhibition. Loved the cold War Bunker. We were the only people there and it was very eerie, just the sound of the air conditioner. Great little retro/antique shop as you come in. We'll worth a look.
