Bodrum Mosque

4.6 ·

Seek out Bodrum Mosque, a Byzantine church from the 10th century hiding among Laleli's shopping streets. A quick 15-minute stop lets you spot its distinctive structure and compare it with the busy surroundings.

📖

Full description

Bodrum Mosque occupies what was originally the Myrelaion church, a 10th-century Byzantine building that stands almost hidden among the modern buildings and commercial streets of Laleli. Reviewers describe it as an interesting historical structure that needs to be sought out, since tall surrounding buildings obscure it from view.

The interior is considered modest, and some visitors have noted practical limitations in the women's ablution arrangements. Entry is free and a visit takes around 15 minutes, making it a worthwhile short detour for travellers interested in Byzantine architecture away from the main tourist circuit.

Reviews

Not reccomended for muslimah. Go look for other mosque. Don't go here -absolution room for muslima is INSIDE the other absolution room for men. Only one small entry. Which i cant go it because I will touch men accidentally regardless. No separation at all -smelly female bathroom
