Pause at Anadoluhisarı, the small fortress guarding the narrowest stretch of the Bosphorus. Spend about half an hour walking the compact grounds, reading the panels, and looking across the water toward Rumeli Hisarı.
Full description
Anadoluhisarı is a small fortress standing on the Anatolian side of the Bosphorus at the strait's narrowest point, directly opposite its larger European counterpart. The site gives its name to the surrounding district and sits in a pleasant waterfront setting that suits a short, relaxed stop.
Visitors describe the compact grounds as quick to cover, roughly half an hour, with informative panels and videos explaining the history. Reviewers are divided on the foreign-visitor entrance fee, but the atmosphere and the views across to Rumeli Hisarı are consistently praised.
It pairs well with a ferry or sea-bus ride along the strait.
