Ponte Vecchio

4.7 ·

Cross Ponte Vecchio, the medieval bridge that defines the Florence skyline. Stroll past the jeweller-lined shopfronts and stop at the river's edge for views along the Arno.

📖

Full description

Ponte Vecchio is the best-known bridge in Florence, a medieval arched crossing of the Arno with Roman origins and rows of small jewellery and souvenir shops built along both sides. Walking across takes only a few minutes, but the bridge rewards a slower pace: the shopfronts, the views up and down the river, and the atmosphere shift noticeably between early morning and evening.

Reviewers call it a highlight of the city and a moment of genuine arrival. It is free, open at all hours, and a natural link between the Uffizi side and the Oltrarno.
