Boboli Gardens

4.1 ·

Step into the Boboli Gardens, the grand formal park rising behind Palazzo Pitti. Follow gravel avenues past Renaissance statues and ornate fountains, pausing in shaded corners as the hillside opens onto the city.

📖

Full description

The Boboli Gardens climb the hillside behind Palazzo Pitti as a formal Renaissance and Baroque layout of statues, fountains, terraces and long gravel paths. Plan roughly 90 to 120 minutes, longer if you tackle the upper slopes, and expect a fair amount of uphill walking.

Reviewers say the grounds look best from April onwards once the greenery returns, and that shaded corners help on hot days. Recent visitors also report renovation and replanting works, with some statues under scaffolding and one main water feature drained.

Reviews

Really good but (as of April 2026) undergoing some extensive renovations and replanting. Some of the featured statues are behind scaffolding, and one of the main water features is drained. Don't let this put you off a visit - it's still a gorgeous park with spectacular views both of Florence and of the surrounding…
