Full description

Palazzo Pitti is a colossal Renaissance palace, once the residence of the Medici family and later the House of Lorraine, now holding several museums with extensive Italian and European art collections. Reviewers describe the galleries as rewarding and notably less crowded than the Uffizi, and recommend the views across Florence from the gardens, including the Belvedere in the Boboli Gardens.

Because several museums share the building, visitors typically need around two and a half hours, and booking ahead is recommended. It is closed on Mondays.

Reviews

This was the biggest coolest residence you could ever imagine. To think that a person wanted a house this large was really over the top. The garden area area was exceptional. This was definitely worth a visit. The rooms are exquisite.
