Victoria Street

Wander down Victoria Street, one of Edinburgh's most photogenic corners. Follow its sweeping curve past painted shopfronts, independent boutiques, and small eateries as it drops from the Royal Mile toward the Grassmarket.

📖

Full description

Victoria Street bends down from the Royal Mile toward the Grassmarket, its curved line and tiered upper terrace giving it a distinctive profile among Old Town streets. Dating from the 1800s, it is lined with brightly painted shopfronts housing independent boutiques, specialist shops, and small cafes and restaurants.

The street is open at all hours and needs only around 15 minutes to walk, making it an easy detour rather than a full outing. Its photogenic character suits couples and anyone drawn to old-fashioned streetscapes, and it works well as a link between the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket.
