St. Mary's Cathedral

4.6 ·

Pop into St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, a classical Catholic church in Dublin's north city. Admire the marble statues and ornate interior, and linger if a service with the choir is underway.

📖

Full description

St. Mary's, commonly called the Pro-Cathedral, is a classical Catholic church north of the river, dedicated in 1825 and holding several masses each day.

Visitors note the marble statues and decor, and some highlight the choir when attending a service. It is free to enter and a short visit of around 15 minutes is enough for a look inside.

Opening hours run from early morning into the evening, so it is easy to add to a walk through the north city. Reviewers are mixed on recorded music replacing live singing at some services.

Reviews

A beautiful cathedral in downtown Dublin. The decor is breathtaking and everyone was welcoming. The choir was incredible and it added so much to the service.
