Full description

The Gate Theatre is a 370-seat theatre near the Rotunda, founded in 1928 and known for classic drama alongside new work. Reviewers describe a well-preserved, intimate auditorium with tall ornate ceilings and a characterful bar where it pays to arrive early for a pre-show drink.

Productions mentioned include An Ideal Husband and Poor by Katriona O'Sullivan, praised for strong acting and storytelling. The small size keeps the audience close to the stage, and an evening typically runs around two and a half hours.

It suits couples and theatre lovers seeking a traditional night out in the city.

Reviews

Beautiful theatre! Saw an ideal husband there which was excellent. There's a nice bar inside for pre show drinks. The theatre itself is well preserved and due to its size creates an intimate experience
