Medicinsk Museion occupies the 18th-century building of the former royal surgical academy in Indre By and displays instruments and exhibits from up to 400 years of medical practice. Visitors single out the psychiatry room, where real medications sit beside historical context, and 'The Body Collected', which shows 19th-century specimens and is frankly gruesome.

The museum has no lift and several stairs and small steps between levels, so it suits visitors comfortable on their feet and not squeamish. It is a distinctive, offbeat stop within easy reach of the centre.

Really interesting museum! Lots of different exhibits and things on display There is a room upstairs with specimens from the 1800s, it’s not for the faint hearted but very interesting! There is also a Covid exhibit comparing it to other pandemics Very helpful staff too
