Cinemateket

4.5 ·

Spend an evening at Cinemateket, Copenhagen's home of film culture. Catch a Danish or international film on one of three screens, then linger over a drink at the cafe or on the rooftop.

📖

Full description

Cinemateket is the national centre for cinema culture, programming Danish and international films across three screens, with retrospectives and curated series aimed at film lovers rather than blockbuster audiences. The building also houses a restaurant and cafe, and its rooftop screening space, with a retractable roof, is a favourite in the summer evenings.

Ticket prices are budget-friendly, and the crowd is largely local and cinephile. It is open only in the evening, so it fits best as an end-of-day activity for couples or solo visitors who want something more thoughtful than a multiplex.

Reviews

Rooftop cinema that advertises that you can come see a movie in the open air “under the stars” - but on one of the nicest summer evenings of the year, they dont open the retractable roof at all..?
