Settle in at Bastard Café, Copenhagen's board-game haven in the centre of town. Pick a game from the huge shelves, order a beer or coffee, and lose a few hours at your table.

📖

Full description

Bastard Café is built around play: shelves hold thousands of board games that visitors can take to their tables and play for free while ordering beer, coffee and snack-style food. The room is cosy and relaxed, and reviewers describe sitting there for hours without noticing the time.

It works equally for groups of friends, couples on a low-key evening and solo travellers, who often end up joining other tables. Drinks are standard rather than special, and the food is simple.

Wi-Fi is reliable, though the noise level makes it better for gaming than for focused work.

Reviews

Perfect board game bar! I wish this concept was available in other cities around Europe :) Made friends there and enjoyed my time. Internet is good for working or studying but it’s a bit loud. - tbh it’s not the best place to work but I got some work done nevertheless
