Szimpla Kert is the ruin bar that defined Budapest's nightlife scene, a huge pub in the seventh district filled with salvaged furniture, odd objects and a Trabant car. It is laid out as a series of different rooms and a garden, each with its own character, so visitors can wander, grab a drink and look at the graffiti-covered walls.

Live music and performances appear from time to time, and the bar also serves food. It opens from the afternoon until 4:00 AM, so it works for both a daytime look around and a full evening.

Reviews

Very interesting place that offers diverse rooms where you can grab a drink or tag a wall. We were lucky to be there when a guy was doing a live performance and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely must-see when you are in Budapest. It might be a good idea to come earlier in a day to avoid queues.
