Margaret Bridge

Walk across Margaret Bridge, a curving Danube crossing with a branch to the island. Look toward Parliament and the castle hill, then step down onto Margaret Island if you want green space.

📖

Full description

Margaret Bridge crosses the Danube in central Budapest, connecting the Buda and Pest sides and giving access to Margaret Island at its midpoint. Its curved, angled layout sets it apart from the straighter bridges downriver, and it offers wide river views toward the Parliament and Buda Castle.

The crossing is open at all hours and is served by trams, and visitors on foot can use it to reach the island's parks and paths. It is well suited to a short walk at sunset, when the riverbanks catch the light.
