Kicsi Japán is a compact Japanese restaurant in District VIII where reviewers consistently rate the sushi as fresh and flavourful, with portion sizes that suit lighter eaters. The space is tight, but visitors say that adds to the feeling of being transported to Japan rather than Budapest.

At 4.8 stars from around 1,000 reviews and mid-range pricing, it has earned a loyal following, including travellers who found it on Google Maps and planned a visit around it. It suits a relaxed lunch or an early evening dinner for a couple or small group, and it is closed on Mondays.

Reviews

It is a nice little Japanese restaurant and it has a nice atmosphere. The sushi was fresh and really tasty. The pancake was a bit dry. I recommend to make a reservation in advance because there is a limited number of tables. We were lucky we've got one.
