Fisherman's Bastion

4.8 ·

Wander the white turrets of Fisherman's Bastion on Castle Hill. Climb its arcaded stairways for a framed view of the Danube and the Parliament, ideally timed for sunset.

📖

Full description

Fisherman's Bastion is a 19th-century viewing terrace on Buda's Castle Hill, built as a decorative rampart with white stone arcades, staircases and seven towers. Its main draw is the outlook across the Danube to the Parliament Building, which makes it one of the city's best photo spots, particularly around sunset.

The lower and some upper areas can be visited without charge, while the highest level requires a ticket during the day. There is a cafe on the terrace, and visitors arriving early tend to find space to sit rather than jostle for a view.

Reviews

A stunning sunset watching spot and the walk up wasn’t too long or steep which was great. Recommend getting there early to secure a nice spot to just sit and chill otherwise you’ll be battling to see anything (depends on the day)
