Full description

Housed in the Bendlerblock, the wartime army command building where the July 20, 1944 plot against Hitler was planned and its leaders shot in the courtyard that same night, this memorial center documents the full breadth of German resistance to Nazism — military conspirators, students, churches, and ordinary citizens alike. Exhibits are dense with original documents and photographs rather than dramatic staging, rewarding visitors willing to read closely.

At 4.6 stars across more than 2,000 reviews, it's consistently ranked among Berlin's most affecting museums, praised for covering ground — the diversity and cost of resistance — that's often glossed over elsewhere. Free admission makes it an easy, low-risk addition to a Tiergarten-area itinerary.

Reviews

Honestly my favorite museum on my visit to Berlin and I went to seven. Awesome history lesson about something that is often overlooked and should get more attention. Very well put together and organized and it's free which is unbearable. There are some really cool documents and stories that need to be told. Must see…
