Venetian Towers

Designed by Ramon Reventós for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, the Torres Venecianes flank the approach from Plaça d'Espanya and were deliberately modeled on the bell tower in Venice's Piazza San Marco, giving arriving visitors a grand, theatrical gateway to the exhibition grounds beyond. Nearly a century later they still frame that same view up toward the National Art Museum and the Magic Fountain, and reviewers describe them as an easy, striking photo stop rather than a dedicated attraction.

They're not open to climb, so the appeal is purely visual, best appreciated from the square looking up toward Montjuïc at dusk when the fountain and museum lights come on behind them. A brief, free stop naturally folded into a longer visit to the Montjuïc area.
