Plaça d'Espanya sits at a key crossroads built up for the 1929 International Exposition, with the twin Venetian Towers marking the ceremonial approach to Montjuïc's fairgrounds and the former Las Arenas bullring, now a rounded shopping and entertainment complex with a rooftop terrace, anchoring one side. Traffic circles constantly around its central fountain, but the square still functions as a natural gathering point and gateway before the climb up to the Magic Fountain, MNAC museum, and Poble Espanyol. It's less a destination for lingering than a transit hub and photo point, useful for orientation given its metro and bus connections. Best appreciated on the walk through rather than as a standalone stop.
