Palau del Baró de Quadras

Completed in 1906 for Baron Quadras, this building by Josep Puig i Cadafalch draws on Spanish Plateresque and Gothic ornament for its facade, densely carved with figures and detail that reviewers frequently single out as some of the finest stonework among Barcelona's Modernista buildings. It now houses Casa Àsia, a cultural institution focused on Asian art and exchange, which occasionally opens parts of the building for exhibitions, though much of the appeal for casual visitors remains the exterior itself.

Sitting on busy Avinguda Diagonal rather than the more touristed Passeig de Gràcia, it draws a smaller, more architecture-focused crowd. A brief but rewarding stop for anyone tracking Puig i Cadafalch's work across the city.
