Completed in 1912, La Pedrera's wave-like limestone facade was controversial in its day for having almost no straight lines or right angles, an approach Gaudí carried through to the wrought-iron balconies and the attic's parabolic brick arches. The rooftop terrace, with its sculptural chimneys sometimes compared to warriors or something out of science fiction, is the building's signature moment and a UNESCO World Heritage element in its own right.
