Museu de la Música de Barcelona

4.6 (620)$$ · Mid-range

Tucked inside the L'Auditori complex, the Museu de la Música de Barcelona holds a genuinely impressive collection of instruments — from antique harpsichords to guitars and uncommon folk instruments — that reviewers consistently say deserves more recognition than it gets. Its high hidden-gem score and 4.6-star rating reflect a small museum overdelivering relative to its size and modest ticket price, though some visitors wish more instruments came with audio demonstrations so their sounds could be appreciated alongside their craftsmanship. At around an hour, it's an easy, low-key addition to an Eixample itinerary rather than a headline destination. It suits music lovers and curious generalists alike far more than families with young children.

What people say

"This place deserves to be known by more people! It is not a huge museum, but it has an amazing collection of instruments. And it only costs €6! From old harpsichords to modern pianos, and from vintage guitars to today's ones, the museum shows how instruments have evolved over time. A must-visit for classical music lovers. There are also some interactive instruments you can try out, which is a fun touch. Just one small suggestion, maybe add a bit of rosin to the cello bow so it is easier to play!"
