4.3 ·

Step into Los Caracoles, a Gothic Quarter institution since the 1830s. Watch chickens turn on the visible roasting spit, then settle into the vintage dining room for classic suckling pig and old-world charm.

✨

Reasons to go

  • Operating in the Gothic Quarter since the 19th century
  • Rotisserie chicken is roasted on a spit visible to diners
  • Vintage 1800s-style decor throughout the dining rooms
📖

Full description

Los Caracoles has drawn diners into the Gothic Quarter since the 19th century, with the roasting spit still a visible draw and the vintage decor giving reviewers the genuine sense of stepping back into another era. At 4.3 stars from over 6,000 reviews and a must-see score of 83, it holds real institution status in the neighbourhood, though a handful of reviewers find the famous chicken and suckling pig good rather than exceptional.

Its combination of history and centrality makes it a natural stop for travellers exploring the old city. It suits a classic, traditional dinner rather than a contemporary tasting menu.

Reviews

The suckling pig was out of this world and some of the best we’ve had anywhere. Super moist, juicy and flavourful, fall-off-the-bone tenderness! Very unique experience to be at this institution of a restaurant too. Laura and Edu were superb, they made us feel at home with the attentive service and friendly vibes. Well…
