El Poblenou

El Poblenou was once the beating heart of Catalan industry — its old brick factory chimneys still dot the skyline — before the 1992 Olympics and the later 22@ tech district plan converted its warehouses into design studios, startups, and co-working spaces. Rambla del Poblenou, a leafy pedestrian boulevard, remains the neighborhood's traditional social spine, lined with old-school bars and bakeries even as sleek galleries and specialty coffee shops move in around it.

The area blends this old-and-new tension well: converted factory lofts sit near unpretentious tapas bars that have served the same families for generations, and the neighborhood beach is quieter and more local than Barceloneta's.
