Museum/arts/culture
CosmoCaixa combines a historic Art Nouveau building with an expanded underground complex to create one of Europe's most engaging science museums, its signature exhibits including a real flooded Amazon rainforest environment complete with live animals and an exposed geological rock formation showing millions of years of the Earth's strata in cross-section. With a substantial 180-minute expected visit and reviewers routinely reporting spending four to five hours inside, it rewards a full dedicated outing rather than a quick stop. A 4.7 rating across nearly 49,000 reviews, with perfect must-see, culture, and aesthetic scores, places it among Barcelona's genuinely essential attractions, particularly appealing for travelers with children given its hands-on, immersive approach to science education. Its high walking intensity reflects the sheer scale of ground to cover across multiple levels.

What people say
"This is a great place to spend time with kids. Let me say right away that you should plan for at least four hours. Because the territory is simply huge. There are simply an incredible number of exhibits to interact with. You can press, touch, and feel them. There are also open areas where you can relax in the fresh air, have a snack, and continue your tour. I especially liked the tropical zone, it’s simply incredible."
