Stavros Niarchos Park

Stroll through Stavros Niarchos Park, a landscaped green space beside the cultural center in Kallithea. Wander its paths and gardens, then head up to the lighthouse viewpoint for a long look over the city and sea.

📖

Full description

Stavros Niarchos Park sits in Kallithea next to the cultural center that houses the National Library and Opera, and it is linked to the waterfront by a broad esplanade. The grounds combine landscaped walking paths, gardens, a playground and a green roof that rises to a lighthouse-style viewpoint with an indoor seating area.

Reviewers praise the architecture and the way the space works in all weather, and note it is worth the detour from central Athens. It opens early and closes at midnight, so it suits both morning walks and evening strolls, with a typical visit of about two hours.

We stopped for a drink and climbed up to the lighthouse viewpoint, which has a very pleasant indoor area for sitting, relaxing, and reading, as well as an outdoor terrace for a walk in the fresh air. The views of the sea and Athens are…
