Westerkerk

4.4 ·

Discover the Westerkerk, whose crowned tower dominates the Prinsengracht skyline. Step inside for about half an hour to see the church tied to Rembrandt and Anne Frank, and if you time it right, catch a lunchtime concert.

📖

Full description

The Westerkerk stands between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht, a short walk from the Anne Frank House, and is known for its 85-metre tower topped with an imperial crown, one of the highest points in the old centre. Rembrandt is buried here, and the church appears in Anne Frank's diary, which draws many visitors for that link.

Inside, the acoustics are praised, and a free lunchtime concert with a suggested donation has been reported on Wednesdays. Opening hours are limited and the church is closed on Saturdays, so check before you go.

Reviews

Beautiful lunch time free concert while we visited. I think it happens every Wednesday. They ask for a 10 euro donation. Church has great acoustics and is well maintained.
