Full description

NEMO is Amsterdam's large interactive science museum, easily recognised by its green, ship-like building rising over the harbour. Exhibits invite visitors to experiment, build and test ideas themselves, with a chemical lab, live shows and plenty of activities aimed at children and curious adults alike.

Families in reviews say kids stay engaged until closing. The rooftop terrace is open to those who only want the views, and it has a restaurant geared toward families.

Plan roughly two and a half hours for the exhibits, and note that it is closed on Mondays.

Reviews

We only visited the rooftop terrace which has fabulous views and a very reasonable restaurant (although it is designed with the families who have visited the science centre in mind so the menu is pretty kid-friendly). It is a steep climb up the steps to the viewing platform but it’s well worth the effort if the sun…
