Wander through Museum Van Loon, a preserved canal house in Amsterdam-Centrum. Pass through period rooms filled with paintings, silver and porcelain, then pause at the cafe in the old stables.

📖

Full description

Museum Van Loon is a canal house in Amsterdam-Centrum that has remained largely intact since its first resident, the painter Ferdinand Bol. Its rooms hold paintings, furniture, silver and porcelain, giving a sense of how a wealthy family lived.

Reviewers describe it as a pleasant surprise that gets less attention than the city's big museums, and they enjoy the cafe set in the former stables. Visitors on a tight schedule can see the main rooms quickly, though many want to return for more time.

Reviews

Lovely canal house, friendly staff and a cute little café. Limited range of food / cake at the café, but the nice surroundings (in the old stables) and nice staff make it a pleasant experience. A couple of friendly cats as a bonus!
