Step into St. Peter's Church, an ornate Baroque interior tucked into Vienna's lively centre. Admire the sculpture and painted dome, and catch an organ recital if your timing is right.

📖

Full description

St. Peter's Church, or Peterskirche, is an early 18th-century Baroque church in Vienna's pedestrian core, built on the promise of Emperor Leopold I and often compared to St Peter's Basilica in Rome.

The interior is packed with sculpture, painting and columns, and the compact dome gives it a grand feel despite its modest size. Daily organ recitals are a draw, and the church also hosts ticketed concerts.

Its lively surroundings make it a convenient short stop of around twenty minutes while exploring the central shopping streets.

Reviews

An incredibly beautiful and impressive church! The architecture is unique, and the details of the facade and roof are truly remarkable. The area is very lively and creates a great atmosphere in the heart of the city. The church is a true landmark and a must-see when visiting. Definitely one of the most beautiful…
