Full description

Tiergarten Schönbrunn is a large, well-kept zoo in Hietzing that dates back to the 18th century, with historic buildings forming the backdrop to modern enclosures. Around 500 species live here, among them giant pandas, wolves, giraffes, Siberian tigers and elephants, in spacious, thoughtfully designed habitats.

Reviewers praise its cleanliness, organisation and healthy-looking animals, and note plenty of picnic areas. Allow a good half day to cover the grounds, with some walking between zones.

It is an easy choice for families and animal lovers, and can be paired with the nearby palace.

Reviews

A beautiful, well kept zoo! One of the nicest zoos that I've been to. Loads of lovely animals including the giant panda, wolves and giraffes. Fair entrance price, for what you get. Loads of picnic areas and kids play areas. We all lived the wqlkway in the treetops, the views were stunning. Absolutely fantastic day out!
