Wander through Augarten, Vienna's baroque garden retreat in Leopoldstadt. Stroll the shaded avenues past the palace facade, take a look at the looming flak towers, and rest on a bench among the flower beds.
Full description
Augarten is Vienna's oldest baroque garden, laid out around a palace that visitors can admire from the outside only. Shaded avenues, flower beds, open lawns and benches make it a calm pocket close to Praterstern, while five play areas and sports facilities keep it popular with local families.
The two concrete flak towers from the Second World War stand out sharply against the formal layout and draw curious visitors. A porcelain museum and shop are attached to the grounds, and the park hosts occasional cultural events.

Reviews
Haven of peace in the city. Lots of shady trees and seating. Plenty of open space. Nice flower beds, kids paths, and the flak towers! Porcelain museum and shop attached to park. From Praterstern take tram 5.
